The EZ8 is still much more durable (and therefore harder to throw), and has much better base stats. Asiamint, the ultimate winner, handily won a game with 76/Combined Arms pushes, while Von Ivan showed off the power of the Dozer Sherman. Both are very good, as evidenced by the fact that both styles were used to great effect in Cohrona Cup. A single 76 with Combined Arms can kill either version of PIV consistently without dying, but I'd strongly recommend saving until you have two and can just overwhelm your opponent.īasically the 76 and the M4A3 Dozer Sherman provide two very different but effective ways to play Mechanized: the 76 offers game ending, armor killing pushes, while the M4A3 Dozer is more threatening to infantry when it first arrives while being able to duke it out effectively with enemy armor. I now I consider the 76 to be absolutely worth it, but if, and only if, you're saving for a Combined Arms push. It also boosts your infantry combat performance, allowing for game ending pushes. You can even take on mass ATGs, if you can flank them at all. Getting a second 76 out and then immediately rushing down your opponent's armor with Combined Arms will usually result in them getting a kill. But AP rounds have solid pen (120/130/140), and are actually insane with Combined Arms. HVAP is pretty terrible, especially because it lowers your combat performance against infantry to be similar to a Panther. Oh, and it boosts sight range and gun range, meaning that you can easily chase down fleeing enemies. Keep in mind that Combined Arms is active for 45 seconds, and can boost any number of vehicles for that duration so long as they are near infantry (which they should pretty much always be). With Combined Arms, it fires once every 3.16 seconds, which is more than or around twice as fast as any other medium. The Sherman 76 with AP rounds (at vet 0), fires once every 4.55 seconds on average, which is already more than a second faster than any other medium. However, it has one feature that I massively discounted that I think makes it go from mediocre (in a faction with an abundance of excellent tanks) to great: it comes in the same doctrine as Combined Arms and AP rounds have the fastest base RoF of any tank in the game. The analysis of its stats in a vacuum still holds up: its really just not exceptional. So I've actually revised my opinion of the 76 Sherman since writing that post.
